Nancy DeBasio, PhD, RN, FAAN
Dr. Nancy DeBasio has a broad higher education background, having served for more than 40 years in both faculty and administrative positions. Dr. DeBasio has served the nursing education field in many local, state and national professional organizations, and over the course of her career, has received numerous honors. She was selected as a member of the American Academy of Nursing’s Class of 2012 Fellows, and in 2013, was awarded honorary membership in the American Association of Colleges of Nursing. Dr. DeBasio also was the recipient of the Distinguished Graduate of Wagner College Award in June 2014. She currently serves as the President of Research College of Nursing in Kansas City, Mo., and as the chief education liaison for HCA, a nationwide healthcare network of hospitals and physicians. Dr. DeBasio has chaired the Jesuit Conference of Nursing Programs and the Greater Kansas City Collegiate Nurse Educators as well as served as secretary of the Missouri Association of Colleges of Nursing. Additionally, she has served on numerous committees and task forces for the American Association of Colleges (AACN), and currently serves as chair of the Nursing CAS Advisory Committee. Dr. DeBasio twice served two-year terms as a member-at-large on the AACN Board of Directors. During her tenure on the Board, she chaired the Task Force on Essential Patient Safety and the Governmental Affairs Committee which facilitates interchange between member deans and legislative, regulatory and policy-making bodies. Dr. DeBasio is an active board member and participant in the greater Kansas City area for organizations including the Research Foundation, Kansas City Hospice and Palliative Care, and the Visiting Nurses Association boards.
