Dr. Nikole Hicks, PhD, RNC, CNE

Dr. Nikole Hicks, PhD, RNC, CNE has been an academic nurse educator for over 20 years, and in addition to implementing active learning strategies in all settings, her passion is facilitating the development of master teachers in nursing. Dr. Hicks has experience at all levels of nursing education and most recently served as Dean of a School of Nursing. She has been recognized by peers for her innovative teaching strategies and use of technology. Dr. Hicks also has over fifteen years of experience teaching and learning online.

Throughout her career, Dr. Hicks has held leadership roles in curriculum development and revision, program evaluation, accreditation, and course development. She has been actively involved in professional organizations, most recently serving as a member of the Board of Directors for the Kentucky League for Nursing. She has conducted research in test item development, reflective learning, development of master teachers, and developed the Fairness of Items Tool to assist faculty in creating valid and reliable multiple choice examinations.

Dr. Hicks earned a PhD in Nursing Education from University of Northern Colorado, MSN from University of Phoenix, BSN from the University of Iowa, and is a Certified Nurse Educator. Education has been a passion throughout her career, and her early teaching experiences included becoming a Certified Infant Massage Instructor and Lamaze Certified Childbirth Educator.
